No New Posts The Grand Library

The Grand Library sits above the Catacombs of the Scholars and is maintained by their novices. It rises five stories and contains some of the only records that exist from ancient times. Many come here to search for guidance, learn of news from the realm or browse the histories. You might just find the answers you are looking for among the stone arches and endless shelves!

"Nearly a million years ago, our people first ruled this world alongside powerful monsters. What happened to them? So many shattered empires and broken histories. Do our people truly still live among the long-untouchable stars? You all are content with heraldry and your precious Faith. What then of the tales of the First Hero and the Sky One? The Ever-Crossed Woman? We cannot deny the Scorched Time for its dark hand still lays across the southern plains. How can you simply bind these monsters to you and not ask how they have shaped our destiny? How we have shaped theirs? This world is old, good Heroes. I do not believe we are alone! I will find the Well of Secrets and resurrect our history. One day I will return and we will once again touch the stars!" - Aelvan Champion addressing the Council of Heroes

No New Posts The Tower of Wells

Though it is built from ancient stone, the Tower of Wells is a sturdy and modern castle, well-maintained by the Faith. It sits in the foothills and many farms surround the area, many displaying bright flags of allegiance to individual Orders. Students of the Orders come here to ascend the Tower and earn the right to wear a Well, a soulbinder amulet that allows one to tame eight Pokemon.

"By the souls that are bound in the Well I wear, I will conquer fear and decay." - Helda, 23rd Hero of the Order of Rangers

No New Posts RT1: The Grain Hills

The foothills that surround the Tower of Wells are the breadbasket of the South Lands. Rain is plentiful and the weather generally mild year-round, rarely snowed under in winter months. Stone roads snake between fences that are lined in flags and the people are very friendly. Few wild creatures appear here, but many farms will sell a Pokemon to a passing hero for a fair price. As the road heads north it enters the market city of Faerett.

"The people deserve defending. Great empires rose and fell here, and yet the people endured to rise again. We owe them our very lives and cannot risk them." - Angelique, 2nd Hero of the Order of Witches, War Witch Supreme in the battle of the Shattered Song

No New Posts Faerett at the River

Built at the edge of the foothills and the confluence of two small rivers, Faerett is a bustling market town that ships much of the food from the Grain Hills downstream. There is much wealth here and guards patrol the streets in beautiful blue and silver armor. A Merchant's Guild is built right on the riverside, surrounded by storehouses and lace makers. Though many continue their journey on foot, crossing the river at the beautiful Pennydrop Bridge, a clever person can earn passage downstream from the Merchants.

"Commerce is the lifeblood of the everyman. We deserve the power to protect it!" - Hardan, Leader of the Merchants Guild, in a petition to the Faith that the Merchants be given Wells.

No New Posts RT2: Copperfall Woods

Across the river from Faerett, a forest has sprung up in soil too tainted from mineral runoff for farming. Called 'penny' trees for their bright copper colors, the unique woodland grows quickly and has become a haven for wild creatures. The river stones that form the road are often covered in moss, but regular merchant carts keep weeds down. Deep in the wood there is a fork in the road, with one well-traveled path leading west towards the ocean and a much rougher trail headed into the mountains.

"It is rare to find a path worth taking. Any choice where people depend on you leaves destruction in its wake and one way or another you will fail. If there is joy you must seize it." - The Elder in the Tale of the First Hero

No New Posts RT2: Western Copperfall

The trees grow denser here and the spaces between them are marshy grass. At some points the path runs right along the riverside. Stone walls grow beside the road in height and complexity. As both the forest and foothills abruptly end a city entirely built in stone rises amongst progressively more swamp-like vegetation. Far off the prismatic reflection of the Chimeric Sea can occasionally be spotted at dawn and dusk.

"The Barren Peoples might as well return to Tunnelhome for all the changes they've refused." - A frustrated Scholar, the History of the West Road

No New Posts Sigate City

Sigate City is a relic, a pile of stone slowly sinking into the wetland. It is home to the last of the Barren People and was once considered the finest castle ever built on the plains. Now the stone has crumbled and most the structure has sunk beneath the earth, exacerbated by the repeated construction of new upper layers. Dark waters pool between the buildings and massive stone walkways arch above them. The stone is held together by crumbling mortar and the flourishing vines... and maybe by the determination of the Barren Peoples who live here.

"You cannot make me! You cannot make me!" - Barren King Durelrich, when offered a dry refuge for his people during flood times.

No New Posts RT3: Atomei Marshlands

Swamp trees press along the wooden planks that form the Wet Roads, often dripping with moss. Little light makes it through the branches, but that does not mean it is dark. Bright orbs - technology left over from the times when the Barren People were emperors over this part of the world - hover along the pathways, casting misty light. Swamp gases burst in bubbles along the path. The path takes you through the swamp and out into the marshlands. The wooden planks are often slick with rain. There, built on a hill, is a thriving town. Its fresh-carved wooden stakes are a welcoming sight.

"Deep beneath the water sleeps our TunnelHome, our people's dream. Here we'll stay - until the water drains away- and one day we'll be home again, songs to sing and light-hearted friends." - Children's song, the Barren People.

No New Posts RT2: Seeker's Pass

A trail built of shattered rocks, the Seeker's Pass is one of the only ways to cross the Colossus Mountains. At first the trail fools you, rising gently through the forest. Then suddenly one finds themselves surrounded by pressing canyon walls that have oddly square angles. Birds flourish on the cliff faces and several strange tunnels lead into the mountains. Most have been closed by wise people, but dark secrets lie just beyond those feeble gates. Most people acknowledge the geological instability of the area and choose to avoid potential death by taking the much safer passes to the north. On the other side of the miles of pressing stone walls is a sparse pine forest that stretches as far as the eye may see.

"How deep do wells go? What is the best place for them? Do you build your home around such a valued resource?" - Veladda the Bright, daughter of Helda and 25th Hero of the Order of Masters

No New Posts Barragate Town

A stone fortress on the edge of the Gale Lands, Barragate Town stands on one of the only hills left in the glacier-scarred plain. A few mud huts huddle against the walls, but several thousand people dwell within the walls. During the winter the town is the only visible landmark for seventy miles. The Galactic Corporation has set up research out on the Gale, and so the town has aircoach travel services to carry groups of travelers to Arduou Village. No one is certain why the fortress was built here. Historians think it may have been the thermal vents below the hill, which provide all the heat and power Barragate could need. Why the town needed to be so fortified is a mystery, however.

No New Posts The Gale Lands

A vast plain of marshy grass in the summer and a featureless frozen expanse during the winter, the Gale Lands lives up to the name. Constant blizzards keep the earth locked in ice until mid-May. After a short period of sunlight and growth the summer thunderstorms begin, violent and magnificent to watch. The summer is brief and the first snow falls before August is over. Out in the grass - near the glaciers - ruins of a massive tower and an enormous ring of stones have been discovered.
